The storabble Team: The People Behind the Storage Platform

Foreword from the Founders

We founded storabble because it’s unnecessarily complicated to find available storage spaces, and we realized that thousands of rentable storage spaces aren’t even discoverable online. storabble exists so that you can rent the perfect, available storage space without effort and as easily as possible. No matter when, no matter where.

We, the two founders Oliver and Sandro, work tirelessly to make searching and renting storage spaces as easy as possible for you as a renter.

I (Oliver) am responsible for everything on the business side, and Sandro ensures that the software runs and that your experience with our website as a storabble user continually gets better and better.

The History of storabble: How We Became the Largest Portal for Storage Spaces as a Startup and Declared War on Storage Vacancy

In 2022, storabble was a small project by a group of students. Alongside their full-time studies, students from the University of St. Gallen and the FHNW began to build a platform on which, at that time, private individuals could rent out unused space online. Today, you’ll find almost exclusively professional storage spaces on storabble, but back then it was still about renting a small piece of cellar.

From May 2023, storabble was completely rebuilt by Alessio Sposato, David Frehner, and Oliver Meyer, and since then, it no longer focuses on renting unused space from private individuals but primarily on vacancies from businesses, where there are often numerous storage spaces not rented out. These are professional providers of self-storage units or property owners and management companies with a large portfolio of properties. This allows thousands of spaces to be rented from a single provider.

After storabble was able to gain renowned investors (e.g., Roland Brack) in August 2023, the growth phase began at the end of 2023. In 2024, around 10,000 users per month were measured on storabble, and for the first time, storabble services were also used in neighboring countries.

The Two Founders: Oliver Meyer and Sandro Kalbermatter

Oliver has been involved with storabble from the start. Since the university project in 2022, through the official founding of the brokerage platform in August 2023 and through the growth phase in 2024. The former bank apprentice founded his first company in 2020 and was one of the co-founders of a non-profit organization in St. Gallen in 2023, which provides humanitarian aid to people in war zones. He has a passion for solving problems and optimizing processes. With exactly this passion, he is now pursuing the goal as a storabble founder to make the entire European storage market new, more organized, and more efficient. The young entrepreneur’s non-profit organization was awarded the youngCaritas Award in 2023, and Oliver was named to Forbes’ Swiss 30 Under 30 list in 2024. With storabble, Oliver is fighting unused properties. Allocation-related vacancy and empty storage due to a lack of management resources should be a thing of the past. In his spare time, he loves to learn about other cultures and try culinary specialties from all over the world. From jellyfish and duck tongues from China to борщ or сирники in Ukraine, or مسمن in Agadir. The more unusual, the better.

Sandro has been part of storabble since 2025. The ETH graduate and founder of Kalsan wanted to become an inventor as a child, and with computer science, he discovered a passion in which he could freely express himself. He has been a professional web developer since 2019, focusing on the tried-and-tested and elegant Ruby on Rails platform. In 2023, he became self-employed with the sole proprietorship Kalsan and developed custom software for companies, from booking systems to the parts portal SearchByStock. In doing so, he places particular emphasis on clean and sustainable development—a need that motivates him to create new FOSS projects again and again, including Dyny, DSLBlend, Compony, Anchormodel, and Albus. Sandro’s love of technology is also reflected in his YouTube channel “Sandro Here,” for which he also produces the accompanying music himself. As a balance to the computer, he visits the mountains and participates in club life. As president of the theater club “Spielbühne Urdorf,” he has already been on stage several times himself. He also advocates for highly gifted children, whether as a mentor or as a course leader at the KinderUni of the EHK, the Talentino, or the OFFH. As a co-founder of the Community 4verGifted, he has now also extended this commitment to adolescents and young adults. With storabble, Sandro has found his next big challenge: building the tech stack in a startup environment so that the company can develop unhindered and efficiently without accumulating technical debt or accepting quality losses.

Advisory Board: Industry Giants Who Support the Startup with Their Experience

The two young entrepreneurs are actively supported in realizing their vision by experienced industry giants. The president of the storabble supervisory board is none other than Heinz Schwyter! The former CEO of Homegate is actively involved in making storabble the first point of contact for all of Europe.

Also on storabble’s advisory board is placeB founder Terry Fehlmann. placeB operates most self-storage locations in Switzerland and opens numerous new locations every year. As a storage space expert, he can ideally support storabble with his experience as a sparring partner.

Michael J. Kohlas is the former head of marketplaces at Comparis. His experiences with online marketplaces are highly relevant to storabble.

Simon Künzler is a co-founder of the marketing agency xeit, and storabble can benefit from his knowledge and experience in online marketing.

As the founder of Sandborn, Isabelle Siegrist has been building companies since 2016. Isabelle supports storabble with her expertise in building startups and her experience when it comes to financing startups.
